Lady Hornets destroy Billies

With two Pine Bluff players fouled out and 14 steals by Bryant, the Lady Hornets kept a lead the entire game on the way to an 80-57 win against the Pine Bluff Billies during an exhibition game Tuesday night.

Bryant took the lead early in the first period but the Pine Bluff blocking kept the Lady Hornets from running up the scoreboard in the first half, allowing 39-points, for a 39- 30 halftime.

The Lady Hornets seemed rejuvenated as they moved the ball up and down the court, making sure to keep it out of the hands of Pine Bluff. Juniors Haley Montgomery and Alana Smith led the team in steals, with each having three.

Bryant senior Anna Simpson and Smith were the lead- ing scorers of the night with a combined total of 42-points. Simpson had 29-points with one steal, two assists and two rebounds, while Smith had 13-points with three steals, three assists and four rebounds.

"Anna's game was a testament to how hard she worked over the summer," Bryant coach Blake Condley said. "She focused a lot on improving her outside shooting, which showed tonight."

The main goal of Bryant's exhibition game was to give the fans a look at the Lady Hornets, as well as to get the players prepped for the upcoming season.

"We did exactly what we wanted to tonight," Condley said. "We were able to move the ball up and down the field quickly, as well as away from Pine Bluff."

The Lady Hornets will be playing in the Pine Bluff Invitational Tournament this week. Bryant started on Monday night in the tournament.
