Harmony Grove golfers play Silver Springs

Brad Mathews not only inherited the Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals basketball team, he is also the schools' head golf coach.
Mathews got his first look at the Cardinals and Lady Cardinals in action at a practice meet at Silver Springs Golf Club against Poyen and Cutter Morning Star.
"It's hard to keep the kids together in the summer, but I hope once school starts we'll get back out there practicing," Mathews said. "We have four or five pretty good players and seven matches this year."
Returning for the Cardinals is All-Conference golfer Glen Loyd. After a summer of playing baseball and golf, Loyd is regarded as the number one player this year for Harmony Grove. Jeremy Hall also golfs and plays baseball for the Cardinals and led his team in last week's practice round.
"Being new, most of the scheduling is taken care of in the spring before everybody gets out of school," Mathews said. "We didn't get a chance to do that and we decided to schedule this practice match to get into it."
The Lady Cardinal golfers are led by Lauren Mc- Neely, who recently got her cast off of her broken hand. She helped out Tori Alexander during the match against Poyen and Cutter Morning Star.

"Silver Springs was nice enough to let us use their facilities," Mathews said.
