Hitting and base running were emphasized in the latest practices for the Bauxite Lady Miners, who came through an uneventful week having two of three games rained out.
The Lady Miners lost to Glen Rose 6-4 and won't play again until March 31 at Conway St. Joseph's.
"We choked against Glen Rose," said Bauxite head coach Wes Mode. "We were eight-of- 29 at the plate and that was the game in a nutshell."
Glen Rose took the lead with three runs in the top of the third inning, and then added another in the fifth to go up 4-0. Bauxite scored one run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Elizabeth Harris walked and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jamie Boshears.
The Lady Miners tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 4-3. Harris singled in Malarie Etheridge and Alycia Barnard singled in Courtney Canada. Glen Rose came back to score twice in the top of the seventh inning and Bauxite only got one in the bottom half of the inning when Canada knocked in Jordan Oliver.

"We had two games rained out and I doubt if we'll make them up," Mode said.
The Lady Miners were rained out at Little Rock Christian and a nonconference game against Harmony Grove was called on account of a wet field in Haskell.
"That was nonconference and we'll play them later on and it will be the conference game," Mode said. "Monday, we got back to practice, but we've got a lot gone on spring break."
The Lady Miners are 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
"It's not too bad, but I wish we were 2-0 in the conference," Mode said. "Everybody is beating up everybody and it's going to come down to who plays well in the district tournament."
