Apex group buys Shipp Communications store Apex Communications, based in Wynne, has bought the AT&T authorized retailer, Shipp Communications, in Benton. Apex is an authorized retailer for AT&T (formerly Cingular). The acquisition brings the total number of Apex Arkansas locations to 20. Tim McNatt, president and chief executive officer of Apex, said the acquisition fits perfectly into the expansion plans for Apex. "Michael and Kim Shipp have spent 12 years developing an outstanding reputation in the Benton community for their ability to provide friendly, yet technical, excellent customer service at competitive pricing." This has been confirmed by the people of Benton, McNatt said, as they have voted Shipp Communications as the No. 1 wireless store, year after year. "We believe," McNatt said, "that we can incorporate the customer focused business processes of Apex, expanded hours for our customer convenience and a broader product selection of the newest AT&T entertainment products for the home and office including DSL, DISH and Homezone, to the store's foundation and continue to be the preferred communication choice in the Benton area." Michael Shipp, owners of Shipp Communications, said: "We are very excited to announce the purchase of Shipp Communications by Apex Communications. They are local business folks like us and will serve our customers very well in the years to come. It was very important to Kim and me, as we pursue other interests, that our customers and friends for the past 12 years be well cared for in the wireless field."
