      Benton showcased its most talented player this season under first-year head coach Chris Nail. It was Brandon Jones who stood out the most Saturday in the Panthers' third win of the season over Watson Chapel, 50-42, in the Class 6A state semifinals at Little Rock Hall High School.

Diamond Panthers beat Bryant to win second straight title

      Against this year's tough competition, the Benton Panthers won their own invitational baseball tournament for the second straight year. The Panthers defeated the Bryant Hornets 9-5. It also was the second year that Benton had defeated the Hornets for the championship.

      The Bauxite Miners made it to the championship game of their Fellowship of Christian Athletes tournament. Impressing coach Joshua Harrison in a 7-2 win over Hazen and a 5-1 victory against Harmony Grove, the Miners faced the Gurdon Go-Devils and lost 8-3.
