Sylvia Fowler Carter
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Teddye Carter; and a grandson, Matthew Carter. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ted Carter; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Carolyn Carter of Benton; a sister, Billie Sue Jennings of Hot Springs; three brothers, Dr. Tom Jumper and Dr. Mark Jumper, both of Benton, and Mike Jumper of Little Rock; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Sylvia's life was dedicated to serving others as witnessed by her 30 years of teaching in the Benton Public Schools and Adult Education Program. Since retiring from teaching in 2000, she devoted her time to enjoying family and friends and being active in her church. Funeral services were held at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 4, with the Rev. Bob Warford officiating. Interment followed at Old Rosemont Memorial Park in Benton. The family requests that memorials be made in Sylvia's honor to the building fund of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Benton or to the Single Parents Scholarship Fund.
