Filing time for Democratic candidates extends to noon March 10 at courthouse

The filing period for Democratic candidates for office, which began at noon Monday, extends through noon Monday, March 10, according to Saline County Democratic Central Committee chairman Carl Frank.

People who are interested in running for a position in Saline County as a Democrat will need to complete the paperwork, and pay the filing fee, he said.

The filing location is on the first floor of the Saline County Courthouse at 200 N. Main St. in Benton.

Representatives from the Saline County Democratic Central Committee will be available at the first-floor location at the courthouse at the following times: Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., and Monday from 10- 11:50 a.m.

Party representatives also accepted filing papers Tuesday night at the Benton Area Chamber of Commerce at 607 N. Market St. in Benton.

Frank said the 2008 filing fees have been established as follows:
• Sheriff, $1,500;

• Judge, $1,500;
• Assessor, $1,200;
• Collector, $1,200;
• Circuit Clerk, $1,200;
• County Clerk, $1,200;
• Treasurer, $1,200;
• Coroner, $450;
• Surveyor, $450;
• Justice of the Peace, $300;
• Constable, $100;
• Central Committee Member,
$20.
