Saline County Humane Society will expand its recycling program

The Humane Society of Saline County is expanding its recycling program to include phone books and magazines. This will help both the environment and our homeless furry friends.

"Please consider collecting these items for us," said volunteer office manager Evie Goldman. "Then just drop off the items at the Humane Society anytime that is convenient for you.

"We will have a blue collection bin located outside our fence to make it easy for you to collect and drop off these items. Ask your co-workers, family and friends for theirs and just put them in your trunk and drop off the next time you drive by the shelter. No time restraints - we will be collecting all year. Also, please remember that we are still collecting used printer cartridges (both ink jet and laser), cell phones, aluminum cans and newspapers.

"Also, the humane society will be hosting a Low-cost Drive Through Shot Clinic on March 29, at the Senior Adult Center in Benton. Everyone is welcome to come and update their cat and/or dog's shots at $10 each."

Dr. Kim Miller will give all shots. The Humane Society will use funds generated from the recycle program to help sponsor pets for senior citizens who are unable to afford them.

Additional information on upcoming shot clinic is available at www. hssaline.org.
