Kelloms completes Lady Cards
Her prominence from the 3-point arch has won several games for the Lady Cardinals this season. Not that this year has been the best for her team, Kelloms believes in her teammates and her coach. "It would me a lot more if we were doing better," she said. "I'm glad I've got the teammates that I have. I wouldn't trade them for anything." Kelloms, Gabbi Ferguson, Brittanie Raper, Mallory Cabe and Brooke Baxley, all start for the Lady Cardinals and have been on the court together since junior high school. "I want us to be better and we can be if we're not lazy," she said. "We have to play defense." Against Glen Rose, she twisted her knee a little bit and had to come out of the game and the game went south from there. "After I got hurt, there was nothing else," Kelloms said. She was able to knock down one of her patented 3-pointers the way she'd learned to do it when David Torres coached her in junior high school at Harmony Grove. "I think Coach Torres helped me the most," she said. "He worked with me more than anybody on my shot and now it's natural. I wouldn't be the same player without him teaching me everything." Kelloms has grown up in Haskell her entire life and attended Harmony Grove school. "I grew up there all my life and I like the people at the school," she said. Her current coach Ricky Mooney has been instrumental in shaping her athletic career. "Coach Mooney is a really good person," Kelloms said. "I wish he was more strict and yelled a little more, but he's really nice. He and coach [Lane] Chancellor would help us with different problems other than just basketball. They not only coaches, but our friends, too." |
