A 37-year-old Benton man said he was beaten up by a group of black and white males near the intersection of Alcoa Road and Highway 5.

One black male struck him above his eye, causing a severe laceration. A black male then grabbed his black backpack and ran. It contained a Toshiba laptop computer, a Samsung Blackjack phone and a Motorola RAZR V1 phone. Loss: $1,400.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Saline Memorial Hospital, where he received stitches for the facial laceration.

A 20-year-old Benton man was cited for driving while intoxicated after police saw his 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck cross Congo Road's centerline and turn into Summerwood Apartments without using a turn signal.

Sean Allen was also taken to Saline Memorial Hospital after he repeatedly passed out while police were talking to him. He was later taken to Saline County jail, where he tested 0.11 breathalcohol content. He was also charged with seat belt and no turn signal.

A 23-year-old Benton man was cited for DWI after police saw his Honda Civic weaving on Edison Avenue. The driver didn't stop and turned off Highway 35 at the same speed, so the officer turned on the siren.

Rony Martinez said he'd had a couple of drinks. He tested 0.15 BAC, and was also cited for no driver's license, no proof of insurance and improper lane usage. His car was towed.

During a safety checkpoint, Mark Wise, 50, of Zuber Road, Salem was cited for possession of a controlled substance. A Saline County sheriff's deputy had questioned Wise after he smelled marijuana, and the suspect handed him a baggie of "pot."

Justin Aaron McCulough, 31, of Lansing Street, Little Rock was cited for DWI at a safety checkpoint at Salem and Congo roads. He tested 0.124 BAC at Saline County jail.

Nicholas R. Whitt, 22, of Royal Oaks, Mabelvale, was cited for DWI after his 1996 Volvo was stopped for following too closely near the intersection of North Sardis and Fortenberry roads. He was taken to Saline County jail, where he tested 0.12 BAC.

Fifteen square bales of hay were reportedly stolen from a Whippoorwill Lane, Bauxite storage building.

Jeremy Whitney, 27, of Conrad Street, Benton was cited with public intoxication after he was reported stumbling at Summerwood Apartments and on Congo Road.

A 70-year-old Cedar Street woman said her door and windows were broken. She named two suspects, but said she didn't see them do it, but added they had been in the area.

A Coral Cove woman said someone egged her home. A similar incident occurred Oct. 28.

A Peach Blossom woman said someone stole a Dell laptop computer from her 2004 Jeep. It belongs to her employer, the state Department of Health. Loss: $800.
