Hooton seeks state House seat

Hooton seeks state House seat

A Republican is the first candidate to announce for the District 29 state House seat, which includes Bryant, part of Salem and some precints east of Benton and Haskell.

J. Brett Hooton seeks the state House of Representatives seat held by term-limited Rep. Janet Johnson (D-Bryant).

"We need a person to represent us who doesn't simply tell us what we need, but someone who will listen," Hooton said. "I am going to listen to individuals and families from across District 29. I want to hear what they feel we need to provide a better state and community for our families.

"Over the course of this campaign there will be many issues on which I will focus. One issue is small business growth, which is very important to our community.

"We need to do more to help these businesses be successful starting with looking at ways to help lower the businesses' ex- pense for providing health insurance for their employees.

"This will benefit not only the employers, but it will make health insurance available to more families and individuals in Arkansas.

"With more than 300,000 unemployed Arkansans, this will be a good step towards having more Arkansans with heath insurance, without the state having to provide it for them. The current ARHealthNet is not sufficient."

Find out more at www.hootonforstaterep. com. Hooten plans to post all of his positions so voters will be able to read more about his fiscal and social conservative views.

Hooton is a graduate of Arkansas Tech University with a bachelors degrees in economics and in political science. He works for Acxiom Corp.
