Investigators find steroids for first time
By LEWIS DELAVAN News editor

BIG PILE OF 'POT' LEWIS DELAVAN PHOTO Saline County Sheriff Phil Mask and criminal investigation division detective, Sgt. Sandy Romeo, discuss a Woodland Hills residential raid, with a large pile of marijuana in the foreground.
Illegal steroids were found for the first time in a Saline County arrest, Sheriff Phil Mask said.

Also found during the Woodland Hills home raid were 16 pounds of marijuana, illegal steroids masked as commercial products, syringes filled with steroids, drug paraphernalia and $2,400 cash.

Sheriff Phil Mask said deputies initially found five pounds of marijuana. A "mule" arrived later with 11 pounds in a trash bag.

"He was transporting it for the major players," Mask said. "But the most interesting thing is the amount of steroids we obtained."

Mask said deputies found 17 syringes loaded with steroids, along with steroid-fluid packets.

The steroids were in packages labeled as personal lubrication and massage packs.

The steroids apparently came from China, through the Internet.

Investigators initially thought the syringes might be loaded with methamphetamines, but they found each contained steroids.

"My concern is people putting this in their body, not really knowing what it it," Mask said.

Steroids have been used for a long time, he said, but this is the first local law-enforcement seizure. ailable.

Two suspects were arrested during the search. Parto Recarloe Porter, 31, of Little Rock and Terry Isbell, 30, who lives in the home, were taken to the Saline County jail.

Both are charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Isbell was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug premise.

Mask said the home had been under investigation for a year.
