Harmon Outdoors sponsors hunting adventure for kids
Martin Couch Sports editor

Tracy Harmon remembers what it was like to go on his first hunting expedition.

The thrill of tracking and the patience of waiting for the right buck or doe to come into view. His first kill was one to remember, but now he's offering that same experience to three selected teens.

"We're going to take three kids from ages 10 to 16 to a private hunting club to hunt with their guardian or parent," Harmon said. "We're going to provide the lodging and meals. All they have to do is shoot a buck. It's our way of getting kids involved in hunting."

The hunts will be on three seperate weekends for the three selected participants.

"So many kids are getting into trouble these days and we need to focus on getting them into a good environment and teach them a skill," Harmon said. "They have to bring a parent or guardian with them, that's all we ask."

The schedule dates for the hunts will be in late November and early December.

"We're also going to abide by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission guidlines for hunting," Harmon said. "If they have two tags, then they can get two bucks."

To register for the hunt, go by Harmon Outdoors and fill out a form. Registration ends the first week of November. Then the drawing will take place.
