Harmony Grove Lady Cardinals head basketball coach Ricky Mooney got a chance to see his team in action for the first time at the annual Red- White scrimmage game and was pleased with what he saw.
"We've still got some things to work on, but there were some good things, too," he said. "Some of our shots weren't falling from some of those who I thought would score, but others were falling from those I didn't think would shoot much."
The Lady Cardinals didn't have the services of Chasity Westbrook, who reinjured her knee before the scrimmage.
"Chasity was suppose to be on the White team, but she's hurt and we don't know when she'll be able to come back," Mooney said. "We're capable of hitting those shots that weren't falling, but this was a good test for us to start."

Senior point guard Gabbi Ferguson believes once the team comes together, the Lady Cardinals will be tough to stop.
"When we all come together as one, I think we'll be really good," she said.
The first game for the Lady Cardinals was Monday night at Abundant Life. From there, they have the entire week to prepare for their second game at home on Monday.
"I think we have the ability to make it to the regionals at least," said senior guard Jessica Kelloms. "If we work as a team we could make it the state tournament. I think we're going to be pretty good, because we've got good leadership on the court and we don't play as individuals."
Senior guard Mallory Cabe agrees that the Lady Cardinals can be successful on the court this year.
"I think we're pretty good as long as we work as a team," Cabe said. "We learned a lot from our coaches and we all have our own responsibilities on the court. Everyone of the younger girls look up to us seniors and that means a lot. We don't have any stars or ball-hogs on this team. We work together."
The Lady Cardinals are Ferguson, Raper, Cabe, Kelloms, Chasity Westbrook, Lauren McNeely, Brooke Baxley, Lauren Martin, Keri Younts, Notie Lewis, Jewel Windsor and Stephanie Patterson.
