The Bauxite Miners are preparing for their final three toughest games of the 8AAA Conference.
This Friday, the Miners host the fast Lake Village Beavers.
"I think we're already into our toughest games of the conference," said Bauxite head coach Jon Watson. "They get progressively harder and if we don't continue to get better it could be tough for us. Right now we're playing six or seven sophomores as starters and I'm proud to see them improving each week. That's all you can ask for is that they keep improving."
Bauxite received the opening Harmony Grove kickoff and scored in five plays. A 43-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Mathis to Peter Whitfield made it a 6-0 game with 10:17 to play in the first quarter.
The Miners dominance contiuned defensively when Ryan Dunlap picked off a Harmony Grove pass and on the next play ran for an 81-yard touchdown. Whitfield added the extra point for a 13-0 lead with 6:43 left in the first period.

The running of Tommy Wimberly got the Miners back in scoring position in the second quarter and set up a Dunlap 2-yard run. Whitfield's kick made it 20-0 with 8:50 to go before halftime.
Harmony Grove put together an sustained drive to march the field and score on a 1-yard run with 4:07 left.
Bauxite retaliated with Wimberly coming up with an 18-yard run to set the tone for another Miners' score. Mathis hit Whitfield for a 35-yard touchdown and Whitfield added the PAT for a 27-7 lead.
In the third period, the Bauxite defense forced a Harmony Grove punt. Runs from Dunlap and Wimberly led to a 34-yard touchdown pass from Mathis to Austin Hicks. Whitfield put up the extra point for a 34-7 lead.
The Miners final score came with 11:50 to go in the game when Wimberly carried in for a 1-yard touchdown and added the 2-point conversion for a 42-7 lead.
"Our young kids are still making mistakes," Watson said. "They aren't necessarily not hustling, there not dis- ciplined in some areas like not reacting to reads, but we're improving and getting to the point when we get all 11 of them reacting to the right keys. We're going to get a lot better, right now we have got eight of them doing it. Our offensive linemen, who should be our strength, are making too many blocking mistakes. If not in their effort, it's in their thought process. They did a better job last year than they are doing right now."
